I don’t know about you, but when I set a goal, I start out ready and roaring to go. But as time goes on I start to lose the zeal and forget about the long term benefits. The process gets tough. The end result seems so far away.
Sustaining motivation can be hard. Here’s some tips to help you get through the process.
- Know What You Want.
To get what you want, you have to know what you want. Write down the different areas of your life (work, family, health, etc.) and decide what you want out of each area. - Set Goals.
Be specific. Set realistic and attainable goals. Set long term and short term goals and keep updating them as you reach them. - Track Your Progress.
Be engaged throughout the process. Keep track of any and every sign of progress. - Social Support.
It really is easier to stay on course towards your goal if you have people around you supporting you and encouraging you. - Get Rid of Negative Thinking.
“All or nothing” thinking is toxic. The process will never be perfect, so celebrate every small victory and don’t beat yourself up for slip ups.
